First Church Early Learning Center, established in 1956, is a nonsectarian educational facility licensed to care for children ages three through six. In this family-like atmosphere, children are able to develop their sense of self-esteem and self-expression through our early childhood curriculum. Our program is structured so that each child's development is self-paced. Through play based learning, the children have the opportunity to explore a variety of areas in the classroom including art, blocks, science, math, sensory, dramatic play, and manipulatives to enhance their critical thinking skills. The basis for our daily educational planning is to focus on the interests of the children while incorporating the Connecticut State Department of Education Preschool Assessment Framework, the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards, and NAEYC Early Childhood Program Standards.
We encourage families to visit us with their child(ren) to fully appreciate the program and its philosophy, meet the staff, and to have the opportunity to ask questions concerning their child's care and education. Calling to schedule a time to come in for a visit ensures that we can set aside time to spend with you and give you our undivided attention.
Both Half Day and Full-Day programs are offered:
The Half Day, preschool programs are from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. (for children ages three, four, and five) and follows the Windsor Public School calendar
Since 1986, we have been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). NAEYC is a rigorous accreditation program that sets professional standards for early childhood education programs, allowing families to find high-quality programs for their children. We are one of the original four centers accredited in the state of Connecticut.
